I knew I wanted to see this movie but I was still hesitant about watching it. The good news is that I had a good time watching it, even though the characters are almost cardboard cutouts. You have got to keep in mind that this is an action movie.
As we all know, the movie is all about stopping a train. Some of the strategies used seem insane. After checking on wikipedia (I usually say that I wikipeded it), the movie's plot was inspired by a true story. I think this movie is a more interesting because the nature of the disaster is realistic. I remember watching Apollo 13, and in back of my mind I knew that it was a true story, that simple fact made watching that movie much more engaging.
I wanted to watch this movie because big D Washington was in it. I'm a long time fan of his. His characters are often low-key and that's the kind of hero I like.
For those interested about the
wikipedia article, be warned for spoilers.
The final word: if you want an action/drama movie with more than empty explosions, this is a good movie for that.
